Italian carmaker Fiat has selected several of its suppliers that will start building factories in Serbia as of May, outgoing economy minister Mladjan Dinkic said as cited by Privredni Pregled. US Johnson Controls, a leading global producer of automotive seating, overhead systems, door and instrument panels, and interior electronics, as well as Italian automotive components maker Magneti Marelli are among the companies that will set up plants in Kragujevac, Dinkic said. The names of the other selected suppliers will be revealed by Fiat later on, the outgoing minister added. Three suppliers will build their plants on the production site of FAS, the joint venture between Fiat and the Serbian government, while the others will build their facilities on the site of a former military complex near Kragujevac. The authorities and Fiat are currently drafting a new list of suppliers which will build plants across the country. Dinkic also said that FAS CEO Giovanni De Filippis had assured him that the overhaul of the facilities in Kragujevac would be finished by April.
