EU and Bosnia sign bilateral WTO accession agreement.

The EU and Bosnia signed on Wednesday, Dec 19, a bilateral agreement on the Balkan countrys accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the European Commission said in a statement. The deal was signed by EU trade commissioner Karel De Gucht and Bosnian trade minister Mirko Sarovic in Brussels. Bosnia applied for WTO membership in May 1999. The country is also engaged in bilateral negotiations with interested WTO members. Accession to the WTO will make lasting contribution to the process of economic reform and sustainable development in Bosnia, the statement said. The EU is Bosnias main trading partner accounting for close to 73% of its exports and more than the half of its imports. Bilateral trade commitments between the EU and Bosnia are already embodied in the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) signed in June 2008.
