EUs Sannino invites Bosnian leaders for conciliatory talks on March 22.

The European Commissions director general for enlargement Stefano Sannino has invited the leaders of Bosnias seven main political parties for consultations in Brussels on March 22 in an attempt to engage them more actively in solving the issue of the countrys EU integration setback, the EU office in Bosnia said in an emailed statement. Enlargement commissioner Stefan Fuele and high representative Cathrine Ashton said in February they expect Bosnia will reach by end-March a political agreement on the implementation of the European Court for Human Rights ruling in the Sejdic-Finci. This political agreement and a timeline for its implementation will be at the centre of the next round of talks of the high level dialog between the EU and Bosnia, which will take place on April 11 in Mostar and will be chaired by Fuele. According to the Sejdic-Finci ruling, Bosnias constitution is in violation with human rights as it bans ethnic minorities from holding top seats in state and parliament, keeping these seats reserved for Bosnian Muslims, Croat and Serbs only. The amendment of the constitution in this respect is a must condition for Bosnia to proceed with its EU integration process but the country has already failed to meet several deadlines due to the lack of political will.
