Czech utility CEZ plans to enter gas market in Slovakia.

By bne IntelliNews April 13, 2010
Czech energy giant CEZ is looking to enter the Slovak market for gas, spokeswoman for the company Eva Novakova announced. She noted that CEZ plans to start offering gas to corporate clients from the beginning of 2011. The move of the company is linked to its positive experience from a similar policy on its home market, which attracted strong demand. Novakova added that the utility was also considering participation on the retail gas market as well and a decision in this respect was expected in the short term. CEZ does not target a specific volume of gas sales at this stage but was rather aiming to build a basic client portfolio. At this stage, the company was involved in the construction of the necessary underlying infrastructure as well as in building its team for the project.
