US Honeywell, the world's largest maker of cockpit electronics, plans to start production at its yet to be built car-turbocharger plant in Slovakia next year, SITA news agency reported. The US company will invest EUR 38mn in the construction of the plant in Presov, eastern Slovakia, creating 446 jobs. The first stage of the project, to be completed by the end of 2011, envisages the construction of a 6,000-sq m production hall. The second state will include the construction of a 9,000-sq m hall. The company will initially make 300,000 turbochargers a year and consequently raise the output to 1.5mn turbochargers in 2015. Honeywell chose Slovakia over Poland for its project in late-December. |
