Telenor Montenegro launches 4G network in four municipalities.

Telenor Montenegro (former ProMonte) has launched 4G network in Podgorica, Cetinje, Niksic and Bar municipalities, the company announced on its website. 'We are excited to be one of the first operators in the region and Europe to provide the future world standard of 4G in Montenegro and for our customers', Brad Byblow, Chief Marketing Officer, was quoted as saying. Revenues of Telenor Montenegro fell by 2% y/y in the third quarter of 2012 to NOK 194mn (EUR 26.4mn). Revenues in local currency increased by 3% y/y. The operating profit of the unit fell to NOK 102 in Q3, down from NOK 92 a year earlier. The number of subscriptions increased by 53,000 in the quarter mainly due to new prepaid subscriptions sold during the summer season. At end of the third quarter the subscription base was 3% lower than a year ago. In Jan-Sept, revenues of the company declined by 5.6% y/y to NOK 458mn, while EBITDA went down by 12.8% y/y to NOK 197mn.
