Taiwanese Foxconn eyes 50% rise in LCD TV production in Slovakia.

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn plans to raise the production of LCD television sets at its Slovakian plant by 50% in 2011, webnoviny.sk informed. The company will also increase the number of employees to 3,900 from the current 3,000. Ondrej Scurka, the head of the Nitra-Sever industrial park where the plant is located, said that there are a number of companies that are willing to become subcontractors of Foxconn in relation to the production boost. However, Foxconns spokesperson Helena Windisch said that for now the company does not plan to hire more subcontractors. Windisch also denied to provide more details about the companys investment plant. Foxconn bought the Nitra plant from Japans Sony in March 2010. Foxconn provides external assembly services, so-called electronic manufacturing services ("EMS"), for electronic products such as computers, mobile phones, or televisions to original equipment manufacturers ("OEM"). Foxconn also has plants in Poland, North America, Mexico and Brazil. Foxconn supplies production for Apple, Intel Corp., Sony Microsoft, and Motorola.
