Slovakias current account surplus widened to a preliminary EUR 267.4mn in April 2012 from a revised EUR 256.3mn in March, data from the central bank showed. In April 2011, the country recorded a current account deficit of EUR 198.3mn. The monthly increase of the current account surplus came as higher trade surplus offset a deterioration of the balance of services, which came mainly as a result of lower revenue in data processing services, the central bank said. Exports rose 11.4% y/y in April, up by 2.6pps from the previous months annual increase, while the annual imports growth decelerated to 2.3% from 5% in March. On a monthly basis, both exports and imports fell in April.
