Slovakia Steel Mills to launch trial operation of steel, rolling mill in March.

Metal manufacturing Slovakia Steel Mill (SSM) would launch trial operation of its new steel mill and a rolling mill in Strazske, eastern Slovakia, this March, SITA news agency reported. the new production units were built on an area of 37ha. The value of the project is EUR 276mn, with the capital investment from the company standing at EUR 236mn while the rest came from service suppliers. The capacity of the mills should increase from the initial 600,000 tonnes per year to 800,000 tonnes per year by 2014. SSM plans to produce and process top-quality structural steel. The number of employees stood at 389. Slovakia Steel Mills was established with the intention of projecting, building and producting mill in Strazske. The Dutch Steel Assets Management B.V. is the sole owner of SSM.
