Serbia to invest EUR 22bn in transport infrastructure by 2027.

Serbia will invest EUR 22bn in transport infrastructure by 2027, infrastructure minister Milutin Mrkonjic has stated presenting the country's transport sector strategy. The minister said that the funds for transport infrastructure projects will be secured from IFIs, such as the EBRD, EIB, the World Bank, etc. Most of the funds, some EUR 13.7bn, will be invested in road infrastructure, EUR 7.5bn - in railway infrastructure, while around EUR 400mn will be invested in water transport and air transport infrastructure. The construction of road and railway infrastructure along pan-European Corridor 10, and water infrastructure along the Danube river are priority projects. The head of the EU delegation in Serbia, Vincent Degert, said the creation of master plan gave Serbia a clear framework and a list of priorities for investment in infrastructure over the next two decades. He also stressed the importance of infrastructure investment in Serbia in light of the country's ambition to attract more foreign investors.
