Nigeria will remain Africas fastest growing telecom market overthe next five years, with several new entrants, the launches of mobilevalue-added and broadband services and the introduction of mobile numberportability, a report from Pyramid Research noted. The liberalisation of thetelecom industry has moved Nigerian telecom services market penetration from1.2% in 2002, to an estimated 48.9% by 2009-end, Badii Kechiche, senior analystat Pyamid and the reports author, said. He noted that Nigeria is one of themost competitive markets in Africa, with more than twice the average number ofoperators than any other African country.
