Montenegro's average pension rises to EUR 279.5 in January 2012.

Montenegro's pension and disability insurance fund (PIO) said that the average pension in the country was raised to EUR 279.55% in January, up from EUR 271.22 in January 2011. As a comparison, the average net salary amounted to EUR 484 in December 2011 and the minimum consumption basket (the total amount of expenditures that an average four-member family incurs for a period of one month) was EUR 770. Totally 119,521 were the pensioners in the country in January, 1,245 people more than in December 2011 as a result of law amendments that introduced relaxed pension requirements.
