The country, along with neighbouring Macedonia and Serbia , entered the white Schengen list on Dec 19. The citizens of the 3 Western Balkans countries will be now allowed short-term travel within the Schengen area without visa. As recalled, the countries launched a dialogue for visa liberalisation in the beginning of 2008. The EC prepared visa-free travel roadmaps for Albania , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Macedonia , Montenegro , and Serbia . In July, the EC concluded that the latter 3 countries had fulfilled the requirements and could join the white Schengen list, which has later been confirmed by the European Parliament. Albania and Bosnia still need to implement some reforms in order to progress to wards liberalisation. |
