Montenegro has made progress in the fight against organised crime but needs to direct more efforts to fight corruption, according to the head of the European Union Delegation to Montenegro Ambassador Leopold Maurer, RTCG reported. Ambassador Maurer recognised the successful cooperation between the Montenegrin police and the police forces of Germany, Italy and UK, which contributed to the good results in the fight against organised crime. The adoption of the new election law was also pointed out as an important issue, together with the need to solve the status of refugees. Decrimanisation of libel represents progress towards improving media freedom, he added, but more steps need to be taken to ensure that there are no new cases of violence against journalists. |
