Montenegro adopts amendments to electoral law.

By bne IntelliNews September 12, 2011
The Parliament of Montenegro reached an agreement and passed the amendments to the electoral law, mnnews.net reported. The adoption of the electoral law was part of the key priorities and conditions to be met by Montenegro in view of opening EU accession negotiations. The consensus on the electoral law comes after long debates and was facilitated by the adoption of the language law last week. The agreement between the ruling coalition and opposition parties was welcomed by the head of the EU delegation to Pogorica Ambassador Leopold Maurer who said that Brussels will continue to monitor the process and expressed confidence that the progress achieved would be assessed in Montenegro's progress report, which is currently being drafted and to be published on 12 October.
