Microscope maker FEI shifts work from Netherlands to Czech Republic.

Microscope maker FEI announced plans to move the production of one line of electron microscopes from Netherlands to the Czech Republic . The move will bring to the countrys second largest city of Brno about 10% of the companys annual revenue accounting for some USD 60mn (CZK 1.1bn). The move of the Small DualBeam product line from Eindhoven will take about 9 months to complete and will create about 50 jobs. It will save the company some USD 4.5mn per year. As a result of the move, FEI is to pay some USD 6.5-10.3mn in severance costs. The move will concentrate all the Small DualBeam production in Brno , while the R&D and marketing operations are to remain in the Netherlands , where FEI employs 550 people. In Brno the company currently employs 280.
