Metals production in Kazakhstan ups in Q1.

Metals production in Kazakhstan generally increased in Q1. Refined copper output rose 0.1% y/y to 81,861 tones. Raw zinc production went up by insignificant 0.1% y/y to 78,576 tones. Alumina output increased by 3.2% y/.y to 465,809 tones. Bauxites production grew by 2.2% y/y to 1.334mn tones. Ferroalloys production increased by 0.1% y/y to 419,178 tones. Unrefined steel production surged by 35.6% y/y to 1.234mn tones. Lead concentrate jumped by 37.8% y/y to 10,200 tones while unprocessed lead output went up by 38.1% y/y to 28,837 tones. The main metals producers in the country are Kazakhmys, Kazzinc and Eurasian Natural Resources Corp.
