LV: Latvian retail trade decline of 8.4% y/y in May fastest in EU-Eurostat.

According to the report by European Statistical Agency Eurostat, in May Latvian domestic retail trade declined by 8.4% y/y. This was the fastest retail trade decline in EU in the reporting month. Lithuania preceded Latvia with the highest retail trade decline in EU (down by 10.7%), Estonia's retail trade decline in May stood at 2.2% y/y, while average EU retail trade y/y increased by 0.5%. To remind, Latvia posted either the fastest or second fastest growing retail trade in EU throughout 2007, while for the previous five consecutive months Latvia posted one of the steepest retail trade declines.
