LV: Latvian inflation of 0.9% y/y smallest in EU in October-Eurostat.

According to the report by European Statistical Agency Eurostat, Latvia posted annual inflation of 0.9% in October 2010, which was the lowest inflation rate among EU member states. To remind, previously Latvia posted one of the highest deflation rates in EU for nine consecutive months, while until April 2009 Latvia posted the highest inflation in EU for twenty months in a row, with rare breaks having one of the highest inflation rates in EU for almost four years. Annual inflation in October in EU overall was 2.3% and 1.9% in eurozone. Consumer prices increased by 1% y/y in October 2010, according to a report by Central Statistical Bureau (as compared to 0.4% y/y inflation seen in September and 0.3% y/y deflation in August). CPI inflation amounted to 11.4% in 2008, while 1.2% y/y deflation was posted in 2009.
