Korean car maker Kia Motors launched the production of a new car at its Slovak plant in Zilina, spokesman for the plant, Dusan Dvorak, announced. The car is the Hyundai ix35 model of Kias parent company and the business plans envisaged the production of 70,000 vehicles in 2010. In addition, the plant was also due to start production of another SUV Kia Sportage during the year. The company hopes that the introduction of the two new cars in the plants product portfolio should contribute for a significant expansion of sales volume. Kia projected total output of the Slovak plant to reach 210,000 cars in 2010, up by 40% y/y. Russia is the largest export market for the plant, accounting for around 20% of total output in 2009.
