Car manufacturer Kia Motors Slovakia will raise base wages by 4.25% on average as of February, SITA news agency reported. The increase for all positions will be at least 3%, while wage hikes of operators in car and engine production will be higher. The new four-year collective agreement also envisages richer social fund and new contributions for vacations of workers and their families. Kia Motors Slovakia, the local unit of South Korean Kia Motors Corporation, employs more than 3,000 people at its factory near Zilina, northern Slovakia. The company is one of the largest producers in the country and among the most important exporting companies. It produces cars and engines for passenger cars. In 2010 the company recovered from the crisis and hired almost 400 new workers to support a planned expansion of its engine production.
