Kazakhstan and China mull cooperation.

Kazakhstan and China are seeking ways to improve cooperation. During the meeting between Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi and Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev the parties notes that the mutual relations are of strategic nature. It was also noted that China provided great support to Kazakhstan during the economic crisis. Nazarbayev stressed that apart from energy and transport the countries plan to boost interaction in the non-oil and gas sector, particularly by implementing Kazakhstans industrial innovative program. The parties also discussed Kazakh presidents forthcoming visit to China which is scheduled for early 2011. The parties also agreed to host jubilee summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at the highest level in Astana in 2011. Besides, during the visit it was announced that bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and China surged by 51.5% to USD 16.49bn in Jan-Oct. The main reason for the growth was an increase in Kazakh oil exports to China. At the same time, deliveries of Chinese goods (textile, machinery, equipment, chemical products, metal products, ceramics and glass) also grew up. Chinas share in Kazakhstans trade turnover exceeds 15%.
