State investment promotion agency CzechInvest negotiated 125 projects worth CZK 7bn (EUR 272.1mn) in H1, CzechInvest spokesperson Stepanka Filipova announced. The number of projects and their overall value decreased by 10.7% y/y and by 33.3% y/y, respectively. The adverse development mainly reflected the suppressed investors' sentiments about future developments and the persisting uncertainty following the crisis. The bulk of the new projects - nearly 90%, was linked to R&D or services, followed by the energy and engineering sectors. The newly negotiated investments will create employment for 4,500 people, which represents 78% of the 5,769 new jobs created in full-2009. Since 1993, CzechInvest has mediated 1,481 investment projects worth CZK 672bn, which have created over 210,000 new jobs.
