Imperial Tobacco Slovakia swings into full-year loss despite higher sales.

Cigarettes distributor Imperial Tobacco Slovakia, a unit of British multinational tobacco group Imperial Tobacco, swung into a loss last year despite a higher turnover, SME.sk reported. The company posted a loss of EUR 74,000 for the fiscal year to end-September 2012, compared to a profit of EUR 2.6mn a year earlier. Its sales grew 24% y/y to EUR 82.3mn. Imperial Tobacco Slovakia is the second-largest tobacco company in Slovakia. It was acquired by Imperial Tobacco in 2002. The Slovak company terminated its cigarettes manufacture in 2004 and its cigar and tobacco manufacture in 2008 and is now a trade and marketing company, selling products that are manufactured in the Imperial Tobacco Group production facilities located throughout the EU.
