The chairman of the strongest Bosniak party (SDA), Sulejman Tihic, will not take part in the approaching elections for the post of Bosniak member of the state's tripartite presidency. The politician received the highest support in the party and was expected to accept the nomination. However, he informed the SDA collegium that he would not take part in the election battle. The politician stated that he would propose a candidate at the session of the SDA presidency, to take place on Saturday (June 26). Local media speculated that the potential nominees could be SDA top-ranking officials Bakir Izetbegovic and Halid Genjac. The Central Election Commission scheduled the general elections to take place on Oct 3. Voters will elect members of the state tripartite presidency, RS president and vice-president, the lower chambers of state and entity parliaments, as well as cantonal assemblies in FBiH. These will be the sixth general elections in the country since the 1992-1995 war.
