Foreign tourists to Slovakia seen rising 9.3% y/y in 2011.

Slovakias Tourism Agency, SACR, expects the number of foreign tourists to reach 1.45 million in 2011, up 9.3% y/y, TASR news agency reported. Most tourists in 2011 came from neighbouring countries the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, while the number of tourists from Ukraine and Russia has also increased, according to SACR general director Peter Belinsky. He declined to give a forecast for the tourist numbers next year, saying that everything would depend on the economic developments in Europe. SACR plans to focus on attracting tourists from economically stable countries, such as Germany, Finland, Sweden, Ukraine and Russia.
