EU funds utilisation under Bulgarias transport programme reaches 23%.

Transport minister Ivailo Moskovski said that the EU funds utilisation under the countrys transport operational programme has exceeded EUR 375.6mn or 23% of the total financing, the transport ministry informs in a note on its website. The payments have reached EUR 456.86mn when national co-financing is included. The value of the contracted projects amounts to EUR 1.74bn (87% of its budget) and beneficiaries have already received more than EUR 424.4mn (above 20% of total). Some of the major projects are Trakia Motorway (linking capital city Sofia to the southern Black Sea city of Burgas), the repair of the Plovdiv-Burgas railway in southern Bulgaria and two stages of the underground construction in Sofia. The overall financing under the programme stands at EUR 2bn in the period 2007-2013.
