EU accession talks still on the table for Montenegro.

By bne IntelliNews August 3, 2011
In response to the recent failure of the Montenegrin parliament to reach a consent on the amendments to the electoral law, Jelko Kacin, vice-chair of the delegation of the European Parliament for relations with Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo said that the country still had time to convince Brussels to appoint a date for EU accession talks, mnnews.net reported. Kacin expressed the opinion that a political agreement was still viable as political parties were willing to continue the dialogue on the bill. As recalled, the Parliament failed to reach an agreement on the amendments to the electoral law during its last session on July 31, which was also the last date of the previous deadline. Reaching a consent on the amendments to the electoral law is one of the seven key priorities before obtaining a positive recommendation for the EU integration talks of Montenegro.
