Energie2 to enter Slovakias retail gas and electricity market in October 2011.

Bratislava-based natural gas and electricity supplier Energie2 plans to enter the retail market as of early October 2011, SITA news agency reported. The company targets to supply energy to 3,000 households by January 2012 and to become one of the three biggest alternative energy suppliers in the country. In order to attract clients it will offer lower gas and energy prices than dominant suppliers. Currently the prices offered by alternative energy suppliers in Slovakia are 10% lower for electricity and 12% lower for natural gas than those offered by the dominant distributors. Since the beginning of the year a number of alternative suppliers, including Germany's RWE and Czech CEZ, entered the Slovak retail market, up to then controlled only by natural gas utility Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel. Energie2 supplies gas and electricity to business clients and to the communal sphere. The firm is active in the Czech Republic and plans to enter the markets of the neighboring countries.
