Employment in Macedonia's industrial sectors down 2.6% y/y in July 2012.

The number of employees in industry sectors dropped by 2.6% y/y in July, a wider annual contraction than 2.4% y/y in June, according to statistics office data. Industrial employment has been posting negative annual growth for nine months in a row. Industrial production decreased by 4.1% y/y in June and 6.9% y/y in July, with July being the 11th consecutive month of negative y/y output growth. Employment dropped in manufacturing, but increased in mining and utilities in July. The annual decrease in the number of manufacturing employees widened from 2.9% in June to 3.1% in July. On the other hand, y/y employment growth in mining and utilities was 0.7% and 0.3% respectively in July, accelerating from 0.6% and 0.1% respectively in June.
