Estonian energy company Eesti Energia signed an agreement with French industrial group Constructions Industrielles De La Mediterranee (CNIM) to build a waste-to-power plant in Estonia for total of EEK 1.5bn (EUR 96mn). The new plant will be built near current Eesti Energia facilities in Iru, near Tallinn . The construction is planned to start this summer. The plant will have capacity to burn up to 220,000 tons of waste and start operation in 2012. The plant will have capacity of 50 MW thermal energy, and 17 MW of electricity capacity.
