The European Commission (EC) will present its Opinion on the readiness of the country to launch accession talks in November, local media reported, quoting international diplomatic sources. The document is a key requirement for a potential candidate country to be granted a ,,candidate country" status. It is expected that the Commission will publish the Opinion along with the regular Progress Report. As recalled, the country received the Accession Questionnaire, as prepared by the EC, last July. The cabinet prepared the answers to the Questionnaire at end-November and forwarded it to Brussels. DG Enlargement requested further explanations and clarifications to the answers of the Accession Questionnaire, raising some 673 new questions, on which the authorities amended the provided information. Montenegro applied for EU membership in December 2008. |
