E.ON launches 436MW power plant in western Slovakia.

Energy E.ON launched a new combined cycle power plant in Malzenice, western Slovakia with installed capacity of 436MW, news agency SITA reported. The investment project cost EUR 400mn and started in Oct 2008. The natural gas power plant can produce more than 3bn kWh a year or sufficient for the annual consumption of up to 900,000 households. It will use 500mn cu.m. of natural gas annually. Thirty workers are employed in the plant. Konrad Kreuzer, the chairman of the board of directors of E.ON Slovakia, commented that the power plant would strengthen the position of the company on the energy market in Slovakia. It would also supply electricity in effective and environmentally friendly way. E.ON Slovakia is owned by E.ON Energie AG.
