Dutch government grants USD 8mn to Macedonia for maternal, child care project.

The Dutch government has granted USD 8mn to Macedonia for a project for reconstruction of the maternity units throughout the country, as well as enhancement of the visiting-nurse service and the immunization health centres, state news agency MIA reported. The project is under the Facility for Infrastructure Development ORIO. The project will take three years and will be implemented in two stages. The first stage will include a detailed analysis of all maternity units, visiting-nurse service and immunization health centres. The next stage will involve reconstructing and equipping all maternity units in Macedonia. This stage also includes the procurement of 75 vehicles for the visiting-nurse service and immunization health centres; equipment for storage and transport of vaccines; as well as new medical equipment for the visiting-nurse service and immunization health centres.
