Russia’s Economic Ministry issues bleak economic stress test scenario

Czech unemployment inched down to 3.9% in March.
It is a drop of 0.1 percentage points month-on-month and an increase of 0.2 pp year-on-year. It is also the lowest unemployment level in the EU, the Czech Labour Office highlighted.
“Thanks to the exceptionally warm weather, seasonal works have significantly influenced the nationwide development in unemployment in March,” commented the Labour Office CEO Daniel Kristof.
He added that the number of available jobs is stagnating, remaining at “practically the same level” for the fourth month in a row.
There were 288,623 job applicants registered with the Labour Office in March.
At the end of March, there were also 124,324 Ukrainians working in Czechia under the temporary protection scheme designed for Ukrainians fleeing the violence following the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine launched in February 2022. Most of these work as manual workers in construction, manufacturing and transportation.
Altogether 397,915 Ukrainians obtained work in Czechia under the scheme; some of them returned home in the meantime, and 68% of these, or 269,515 of these, are women.
