The leading Czech truck maker Avia boosted sales by 56% y/y to CZK 665mn (EUR 26mn) in 2012 helped by strong demand in central and eastern Europe, CTK news agency reported. The company sold 1,003 vehicles last year, or by two-thirds more than in 2011. Avia also supplied chassis and cabins to US producer of electric cars Smith Electric. The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased by CZK 15mn in 2012 but it continued to post losses due to low production levels.
