Czech Republic remains moderate innovator in latest EU innovation scoreboard.

The Czech Republic was rated as a moderate innovator in the 2010 Innovation Union Scoreboard of the European Commission, the EC announced on its website. The countrys innovation performance was below the EU average, but it rated better than Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Malta, Greece, Spain that were also named moderate innovators. Denmark, Finland, Germany and Sweden were rated as innovation leaders, as their performance was well above the average for the EUs 27 countries. The Czech Republics relative strengths are in human resources, firm investments, innovators and outputs, while its relative weaknesses are in open, excellent and attractive research systems, finance and support and intellectual assets. High growth is observed for community trademarks and public-private co-publications, while a strong decline is observed for non-EU doctorate students. Growth performance in human resources and intellectual assets is above average, while in the other segments it is below average.
