Czech Rep seen as Europes 6th most attractive investment destination in 3 yrs.

The Czech Republic is seen as Europes sixth most attractive destination in the next three years, consultancy Ernst & Young (E&Y) said in its 2012 European Attractiveness Survey. The Czech Republic shares the 6th position with Romania. Germany topped the ranking with 35% of the survey participants choosing it as Europes best country to invest in. For comparison only 3% of the voters ranked the Czech Republic as Europes leading investment location. Overall, the CEE has suffered a significant loss in investor confidence, with only 21% of the investors deeming it as the most attractive place in the world to invest in, while six years ago the share stood at 52%. The regions high dependence on exports to Western Europe, the largely foreign-owned banking system, the rise in non-performing loans and the high debt levels in some CEE countries are considered as the main drags. Still, E&Y considers the Czech Republic among the CEE countries that continue to attract good FDI inflows from investor looking for relatively low-cost labour and skilled workforce.
