Croatia opens remaining 3 policy chapters in its EU entry negotiations.

The country opened the final three chapters in its EU accession negotiations at the intergovernmental conference. The opened chapters were competition policy, foreign, security and defence policy and judiciary and fundamental rights. In addition, it closed two chapters, namely public procurement and taxation. The country had 33 opened chapters and 20 closed chapters in its negotiations for the EU membership. EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fuele said that the accession treaty with Croatia could be signed during the Hungary EU Presidency, namely in the first half of 2011. He stressed that the European Commission will give more details in this respect in the progress report in November.
