Bulgaria launches construction of 25-km gas link with Romania.

Bulgaria launched yesterday, Aug 16, the construction of a 25-km gas pipeline linking Bulgaria with Romania, BTA reported. The project, which is being developed by natural gas transmission utility Bulgartransgaz on the Bulgarian territory and Transgaz - on Romanian territory, is to be completed by May 2013. The gas pipeline will have an annual capacity of 1.5bn cu m of gas. The total value of the project is EUR 23.8mn, of which EUR 8.9mn are to be covered with EU funds. It is part of Bulgarian efforts to diversify gas deliveries. The country will also launch the construction of another gas link - with Greece is expected by the end of 2012 or in the beginning of 2013, energy minister Delyan Dobrev announced. It will be with 180km length, 150km of which will be on Bulgarian territory.
