Bosnian banks report EUR 71.5mn loss in 2010 on higher share of bad loans.

Bosnian banks reported an aggregate loss of KM 139.9mn (EUR 71.5mn) in 2010, as the share of bad loans reached 9.6%, Nezavisne Novine daily informed citing central bank and bank associations' data. Banks, operating in Bosnia's Serb Republic, reported for the first time an aggregate loss of KM 19.3mn, RS Banking Agency director Slavica Injac said. Nine RS banks had an aggregate profit of KM 20mn and one - a loss of KM 40mn. The banks in the Muslim-Croat Federation reported a combined loss of KM 120.6mn. Five banks in the entity reported an aggregate loss of KM 157.3mn and 14 had a combined profit of KM 54.7mn. Hypo-Alpe Adria Banka Mostar reported the highest loss of KM 157.3mn. Household deposits, on the other hand, grew by 13.8% y/y to KM 6.5bn at the end of 2010, central bank governor Kemal Kozaric said.
