Average net wage in Macedonia down 3.3% y/y in August 2012.

The average monthly net wage dropped by 3.3% in real terms to MKD 20,965 (EUR 341) in August, after decreasing by 2.4% y/y in July, according to data of the statistics office. The wider decline reflects a significant acceleration of inflation. On the other hand, in nominal terms the net wage edged up by 0.3% y/y in August, reversing a 0.2% y/y drop in the previous month. The average net wage has decreased by a real 2.2% y/y to MKD 20,837 in Jan-Aug. The average monthly gross wage dropped by a real 3.4% y/y to MKD 30,777 in August, after contracting by a real 2.4% y/y in July.
