Albanian bank assets rise 11.1% y/y at end-August 2012.

The value of assets held by the Albanian commercial banks increased 11.1% y/y to ALL 1,236bn (EUR 8.83bn) at end-August 2012, according to central bank data. The annual growth rate slowed down from 11.7% in July 2012 and from 12.9% y/y recorded in August 2011. According to IntelliNews calculations, the end-July assets equalled 90.9% of the projected full-year GDP, up 5.3pps on the year. Government securities comprised 27.6% of the total assets. In monthly terms, the value of bank assets increased by 1.8% in August, speeding up from 0.6% m/m rise in July.
