EBRD decided to increase its support to the private sector development in the Western Balkans through a EUR 110mn facility, the bank said in a statement. The institution will provide credits under a new Western Balkans Private Sector Support Facility (WBPSSF). The lending policy prioritises two aspects including sustainable energy development and increasing competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The EBRD facility will also be supported by EU grant funds worth EUR 22.5mn, provided under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance Crisis Response Package. With this initiative EBRD expressed commitment to support an environmentally sustainable economic growth in the Western Balkans and setting higher business standards in the region, EBRD director for Small Business Finance and Energy Efficiency Henry Russell commented. |
