Albanian statistics institute INSTAT has launched a census of agricultural holdings, Balkanweb reported. The authorities aim to provide general and detailed information for entities in the sector as well as reliable statistical data, necessary for planning and better management of agricultural assistance programmes. The statistical bodies will cooperate with the interior ministry in order to secure the successful implementation of the project, which is expected to be completed by end-October. A total of 3,500 surveyors, 750 controllers and 69 supervisors will be involved in the initiative, which is financially supported by the EU. About 350,000 Albanian families are involved in agricultural activities. Slightly less than half of the countrys total labour force has been employed by the private agricultural sector, statistical data shows. |
