Totally 23,788 business entities were active in Montenegro in the second quarter of 2012, up by 11.6% q/q, the country's statistics office reported. Most of the enterprises were registered in the capital Podgorica (33.8% of the total number of enterprises), followed by the tourist destinations Budva (10.9%) and Bar (9.2%). The largest part of companies operated in wholesale and retail trade sector, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (40.5% of the total), accommodation and food service activities (10.8%) and construction (8.9%). The dominating type of companies were small, meeting two of the three criteria - employ less than 50 people, total annual income is less than EUR 10mn and/or total assets are below EUR 10mn. |
