Power utility EVN Macedonia produced by 50% more electricity from renewable sources in 2009 as a result from the upgrade of its 11 small hydro power plants and introduction of modern technology, the company said in a press release. The annual production of the 11 small hydropower plants stood at an average of 100 GWh, while in 2009 they generated 150 GWh. The company invested in increasing the production capacity if three of the plants, as well as overall modernisation of the 11 facilities. The units are managed through a remote-control system, the company added.
