USAID has contributed to a number of projects for increasing the competitiveness of clothing and footwear manufacturers from Shkodra region. The initiative is aimed at increasing the quality of production, raising productivity and promoting employment in the sector. Moreover, the foreign experts have provided assistance which will enable local companies to meet international industry standards and expand their export capacities. Manufacturers are receiving further technical assistance to implement the best-practice examples of the high-productivity firms. USAID supports the local textile companies under the RRITJE Albania project for the development of competitive enterprises. The textile and footwear industry is the countrys largest export sector comprising 35% of the total, according to the latest statistical data. |
