Union, employers set minimum wages in Macedonias agriculture, food industry.

The branch trade union and the employers in agriculture and food industry have set the minimum wages for the seasonal workers in those sectors for this year, Dnevnik daily reported. The minimum wage in agriculture is MKD 8,080 (EUR 131) and the wage in food industry is MKD 9,100 this year, up from MKD 7,350 and MKD 8,600 respectively last year. Vlatko Gjorgjievski, president of the employers association in the food industry, comments that the agreement will cover about 400,000 people. The wages were set within the framework of the collective agreement and also as harmonisation with the minimum wage law.
