The United Nations expressed commitment to expand its cooperation with the Albanian government under the One UN initiative within the next five years, UN deputy secretary-general Asha-Rose Migiro said. She evaluated positively the fulfillment of the objectives of the project. The initiative was launched in 2007 and focused on responding to the policies included in the Albanian National Strategy for Development and Integration such as: achieving of more transparent and accountable government; greater participation in policy and decision-making; increased access to quality basic services, and regional development, improving capacity development, gender equality and environment protection as well. Along with the UN fund, the project has been financially supported by the governments of Austria, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. |
